Itinerary: Hotel - Revolution Square (Royal palace, Romanian Atheneum, Central Library) - Calea Victoriei -  Palace of Parlament - Cotroceni Palace - Old City Centre - The Royal Court of Vlad The Impaler 

After the meeting with the guide, you will stop in Revolution Square, where can be seen the balcony of Central Commitee from which Ceausescu used to have speeches in front of the population. You will hear the story of the helicopter that took away Nicolae and Elena from the roof of the building in order to run away frtom the angry crowd. Photo stop.

You will keep going on Calea Victoriei, one of the most interesting and cultural areas of the city, where one can observe a mix of architectural elements, luxury stores and hotels for tourists: History Museum, CEC Bank and Zlatari Church.

The guide will stop in front of the Palace of the Parliament or House of the People, as it was named in the communist period where you will enjoy a beautiful panorama with the second largest building in the world.  This is just to highlight the difference between the communist era and the monarchy, just to prepare for the next visit. at Cotroceni Palace.  

Then Cotroceni Palace is many things Casa Poporului isn’t. It is located in a green and quiet area of the city, in one of the capital’s oldest neighborhoods. It doesn’t count with an impressive number of meters of surface or height but rather with being the local residence the longest in use. The two edifices share however an imprint of dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, although in different degrees. And while one is meant to top one’s imagination of scale, visiting the other can be an exercise in imagination. This happens because Cotroceni Palace was expanded, refurbished or reconstructed at various stages of its history which starts at the Cotroceni Hill. This used to be covered by the Vlăsiei woods, which took up a large part of today’s capital’s territory. It was here that Șerban Cantacuzino, a Prince of Wallachia between 1678 and 1688, built a monastery in 1679, and, later, a palace was added.

At the end of the tour, the guide will make a stop at the Romanian Patriarchal Cathedral, with its architecture and the interior design of the Church erected in the mid part of 17th century, when the  whole area was covered with vines. This is also a good spot for panoramic pictures and a quiet place to put together your powers before entering in the city murmurs.
