The itinerary:

   

Day 1.  Arrival at Otopeni. Accommodation Hotel Capitol/Ambasador 4* -20 km

Transfer to hotel and panoramic city tour, based on the flight. You can see: the Arch of Triumph, Calea Victoriei, Revolution Square, University Square, the Romanian Athenaeum, Royal Palace, Central University Library, the former Communist Central Committee, etc. Depending on the program, we will take a walking tour to the historic center entering in some free of charge monuments.

Day 2. Bucharest - Curtea de Arges monastery - Cozia monastery - Olt river - Sibiu - Sibiel. Accommodation Casa Ana Ciortea 3 * -280 km

The 8-day tour starts with the visit of Curtea de Arges monastery, a masterpiece of Wallachian architecture included in the UNESCO Heritage, also famous for the legend of the master Manole who built the church, then departure for the Cozia Monastery. We arrive in the afternoon in Sibiu, famous for Saxon architecture, visit of the historic center of the former European capital, known at the time for its fortification system considered the largest in Transylvania with over 7 km of city walls, today important vestiges are preserved. You can visit: Bruckenthal Palace (external) built in Baroque style, the Bridge of Lies, the Orthodox Christian Cathedral, home of the Transylvanian Mitropolitan Church, the Evangelical Cathedral, the Council Tower, etc. We take a typical dinner of the region in Sibiel, by the farmers, in the midst of Romanian traditions. Day 3.  Sibiel - Alba Iulia - Cluj Napoca - Sighetul Marmatiei (Maramures). Accommodation in Hotel Gradina Morii 3 * or similar (breakfast at the hotel)

After the breakfast, we go to the ancient fortified Roman city - Alba Iulia, the city of the Great Union of Romanian Principalities in 1918 and city of the coronation of King Ferdinand and Queen Mary in 1922. Then, we arrive in the largest city of Transylvania, Cluj Napoca – guided tour. In the late afternoon, arrive in Maramures. Located in the far north of Romania, on the border with Ukraine, the Maramures region preserves its ancestral traditions intact, in a fairytale environment where time seems to have stopped and where the farmers still work with tools that have disappeared elsewhere. Inhabited by the descendants of the free Dacians, who gave the Roman army a hard time, Maramures is an area known for its popular festivals, for the splendid costumes still worn today, for the architecture of the houses with the characteristic carved porches and churches with pointed roofs, built exclusively of wood. We visit the The Merry Cemetery and the Sapanta Peri Monastery. Dinner and accommodation.

 

Day 4. Sighetul Marmatiei - Maramures wooden churches - Prislop Pass - Voronet - Radauti (Bucovina). Accommodation Pensiunea Tara Fagului or Hotel Gerald’s 3/4 * -210 km

On the fourth day we continue to visit the wooden churches of Barsana (located in an amazed valley), Ieud (the oldest, dating back to 1364) and Rozavlea, which are UNESCO monuments. Later,we arrive in the famous Bucovina region, called the land of monasteries or the country of beech trees. Here are the typical frescoed churches of Northern Moldova (today 7 of them are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Arbore, Humor, Moldovita, Rasca, Sucevita and Voronet). In this day we visit the Voronet Monastery, famous for its dominant blue color and for the fresco of the scene of the Last Judgment and then visit of Dragomirna Monastery, with the highest church in the region (42 meters).

 

Day 5. Bucovina - Moldovita - Sucevita - Lucia Condrea Egg Museum - Piatra Neamt. Accommodation Central Plaza Hotel 4 * or similar -130 km

In the fifth day we visit two of the the painted monasteries of Bucovina. The Monastery of Moldovita was erected by Prince Petru Rares, son of Holy Prince Stephen the Great (Stefan cel Mare) in 1532 (painted in 1537 with the dominant yellow color). The fresco depicting the scene "The siege of Constantinople" is very famous. The Monastery of Sucevita, on the other hand, was erected by the Movila brothers between 1582 and 1584. The predominant color is green. Later we visit the International Museum of Painted Eggs and we see a demonstration of handmade ceramics in Marginea. Then in the evening we arrive in Piatra Neamt, in the region of Moldova. Moldova is a particular land with many legends and stories about national heroes and about struggles for territorial independence.

 

Day 6. Piatra Neamt - Bicaz Gorges - Red Lake - Sighisoara - Brasov. Accommodation Hotel Coroana Brasovului or Wagner 3* - 240 km

We take the breakfast in the hotel and after we go to Sighisoara. We will cross the Carpathian chain through the Bicaz Gorges, the most famous canyon in the country, passing near the Red Lake, a lake originated by the natural barrier of a mountain, in 1837. In the afternoon we will reach the city of Sighisoara, crossing the heart of Transylvania. The city is known as "The Pearl of Transylvania", included in the UNESCO Heritage. We will see the Clock Tower, the house of the famous Vlad the Impaler, dating back to 1421 (which inspired Bram Stoker's famous novel "Dracula"), and a wooden staircase that leads to the most panoramic point of this city. Arrival in the evening in Brasov.

Day 7. Brasov - Bran - Sinaia - Bucharest. Accommodation 4* Hotel Capitol / Ambasador - 200 km

After breakfast, we visit Brasov, one of the most beautiful multicultural cities of our country, situated in Transylvania. We visit the Council Square, the Council Tower, the Black Church, the Catherine’s Tower, the Black and White Tower and the ancient area of ​​the city called Schei, where Romanians lived from long time ago. Then we arrive at Bran Castle, known as Dracula’s Castle, famous for its architecture and stories from the past. The place is linked to the legendary prince Vlad the Impaler who had a series of fights in the area during the 15th century. The tour continues with a visit of Peles Castle, the summer residence of the royal families, one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. The tour continues with the visit of Sinaia monastery which gave the name of the most famous Romanian tourist resort. We arrive in Bucharest in the evening.

 

Day 8. Bucharest - Otopeni Airport transfer based on the flight

In the morning, depending on the departure time, you have the possibility to visit the Village Museum, located in the Herastrau Park, one of the largest parks in Europe. Transfer to the airport in good time. Alternatively, if the weather permits, enjoy a visit to the Therme of Bucharest, located near Otopeni.
